We're assembling a team to develop a 2.87 acre site owned by non-profit First Step Florence, just north of Florence and east of Highway 101. We'll be working with our partner organization on site planning, site infrastructure, and building design.
Since 2017 First Step has been providing unhoused families with a safe and stable place to live and an array of supports to prepare them for the transition to a more permanent situation. Currently First Step houses three to four families at a time in travel trailers and a foldable house. The new development—First Step Florence on Spruce Street—will include six to eight two-bedroom units, likely in the form of attached duplexes. Each housing unit will be approximately 450 square feet.
